This graphic novel retells the somber story of Heath Ledger, an Australian actor who passed in 2008 from an accidental drug overdose caused by mixing prescription pills. This publishing project was created in hopes of shining light on the serious effects that come with misusing drugs, as well as recognizing how high the number of preventable deaths linked to overdosing has risen.
Each spread takes you through a portion of his movie career and pill addiction, inevitably leading to his last few moments of life. All illustrations created for this six-panel novel were designed using Procreate. Minimal black and white colors were kept to mirror the dark, surreal tone of the story. Blue was used only on the front and back spreads, reflecting the title “Blue Bullets”, a term often used to describe prescription pills.
